Importance of Horoscope Matching in Hindu Community

In all the Hindu weddings in India, horoscope matching has been a trend before fixing any wedding. It has been the most common custom that has been practiced since years, especially in the case of arranged marriages. Matching making as per the horoscopes belongs to the Vedic system of astrology, where the positions of stars and other planets are considered. When it comes to my opinion, I do not have any belief over horoscope matching, and I did not even ask my parents to match my horoscope with my would be life partner. 

However, parents are scared about the lives of their children and they strongly believe in matching horoscope before finalizing anything. This comes out of the fear that parents think about the future of their child. They believe that a wedding is associated with the happiness of the deeds that a person has committed in the past. For secured future, a blissful life and a healthy and wealthy married life is the dream of the parents, hence they emphasize on matching and checking the horoscopes, for a perfect match making. The prerequisites for horoscope matching are correct and accurate information about the date, time, and the place of birth of the person associated.

Mostly, horoscopes are prepared when a child is born, and the position of plants at the time of his/her birth is the main deciding factors in his/her wedding. The positioning of planets aid in calculating the number of Gunas between the boy and the girl, and the compatibility among the boy and girl is checked. However, the society has modernized, and the families residing in metro cities do not seek help of astrologers to fix the weddings.

Although many people do not believe in horoscope matching, still this tradition remains an integral part of Hindu marriages for a perfect match making.
